Ran through some water, CEL, runs fine. Ideas?

I am stuck in the nor'easter we have going on right now. I was driving through a flooded street (not even 12" of standing water) making water fly out, but not up onto the Jeep. I then hit a monster pothole I didn't know about and made a huge splash all over myself. CEL turned on immediately but the Jeep runs fine.

My wife'll murder me if I cost us anymore for my Jeep in repairs. Is this something I can have turned off and not worry about it? I figure a little water must have gotten sucked in and caused a misfire. Please, any ideas?

First, you need to go pull the code, then you will have a better idea of what went wrong. I have had TPS sensors on the 4.0 go out in the past due to copious amounts of water.

Yep check the codes first, you can do it your self too. On my 02, with it off, turn key to run position then off 3 times, 3rd time leaving at run and it should show the codes. i think its the same on the newer ones too.

Yep what those guys said check the code.
Off on three times and wait. It will start flashing your code and maybe put it on the odometer.(mine does both)

Just recently I had a similar thing happen. Firs I died in some semi-deep water then it ran like crap the cel came on, Cyl 3 misfire, cleared it and it ran fine but came back, after it came back again it was 24 tps. I replaced the tps and now it runs great, actually smoother than before.

Check your codes it. It might be a misfire which isn't a big deal. You can also disconnect the battery for a min or two and it will reset the code, if it comes back you will need to look into it more.

Do you all know if that trick with the on/off with work on a '00? I had never heard that before. It will be awesome if so.
