Rain Soaked Inside - Drying Tips?
So I guess 10% chance of rain means 100% wherever my jeep is parked......Yeah, right when I get the fender flares painted and the jeep is lookin pretty good (if I say so myself) it decides to rain, and I mean downpour with the top open and doors off......
Any tips for the drying process? The typical take the mats and carpet out, but how big of a chance for damage to the dash/electronics is there? I did have a bikini on, but when I got to the jeep to drive it in the shop real quick it was raining sideways and the seat was a swiming pool for my butt already........ Thanks everyone, Shawn

Your electronics should be fine...I have been wheeling in downpours with the top off many times with no issues.

As long as you had a bikini top or something on, you should be ok... I drove 40 miles in a hailstorm with my top and doors at home (safari top on) and althought I had to pull the rear seat apart for drying and check the box inside for any water damage (none, whew) and pull the drainplugs and empty 4" of standing water out of the rig, all the electronics survived. In part to the fact that they were powered off during the storm also and never turned on for a few good drying days following the incident. All I lost was one of the switches on the dash went out but just a few $ at the stealership for the new part fixed that right up... But the smell remains... What is it with mold... GAH! Just one more reason to liner the inside...

drain the water, leave top and doors off for a few days to let it dry, spray down with Lysol and then Febreze to rid the mildewy smell worked for me in the few instances where i've gotten her rained on. I did the same thing as SirGCal where I didnt use my stereo until i felt it was dry enough just to be safe, but the dash and the cruise controls on the steering wheel still worked fine.
Try going mudding with the top and doors off, then a wet interior doesn't seem so bad.

I've left my top off in the rain several times. I've found a great solution to drying it out very quickly. Here's what I do: Put the top and doors on. Start the engine. Turn the A/C on full blast, but put the temp control all the way to the heat side. This way, the vents are blowing hot air, but since the A/C compressor is running, it takes all the moisture out of the air as well. So the result is that it blows hot, dry air. Leave the jeep running like this for about an hour. When you come back, everything inside will be nice and dry. I've used this method many, many times, with excellent results.

Come to Texas, we haven't had rain in I don't know how long. Temps here are well above 100 degrees. You WILL be dried out in several minutes!!!
