Radiator Barn radiator

I just received my new radiator from Radiator Barn, but it does not match my old one exactly. There are two small hose fittings on the bottom of the new radiator that are not on my old one. What are they? If you have a radiator from Radiator Barn, are those fittings on yours?

Thanks

They are for the automatic transmission lines. You don't have an automatic transmission so you just ignore them. You could plug them if they bother you but they won't cause coolant to leak if you don't.

When I got a new radiator (not from Radiator barn) it had a similar situation. Apparently my radiator also fit some kind of Mercury. It's no big deal. Just feel relieved that you don't have a plastic radiator anymore. Gawd what was jeep thinking?

Did you get a 2-row or 3-row? I'm installing a 3-row. Uncertain about which is better.

If you look at the packing slip it tells you many of their radiators come with an automatic transmission oil cooler. Ignore it you don't have to block it off. I run an electric fan and have the 3 core radiator and I haven't had any problems with it. If I'm at 30-35 mph the fan never comes on and my temp guage runs straight up at 200-210. Your good to go.

A 2-row is generally considered more efficient for a Wrangler than a 3-row is. Heck, Jeep went to a 1-core radiator a few years ago.

I did called the Radiator Barn to switch to 2-row, but the 3-row was already shipped. I'll just have to leave with it and see if it does keep my TJ cool.

If not, hear I come 2-row Aluminum.

If nothing else you can hook up a cheap water pump to it and use it as a camping shower heater. I was actually happy to see those later because I hope to some day do the XJ auto tranny swap.

I went ahead and installed it with no troubles. I have to give a thumbs up to Radiator Barn. I placed an order at 8:30 pm on Tuesday and had the radiator by 3:00 pm Thursday. It was cheaper than the autoparts stores and looked great.

thanks for the replies

On a side note, when I got my radiator from the barn.....there was candy in the box.
