Quick Sahara ?

Hey i looked through the TJ FAQs section and just could not find the answer to this question:

Does a stock 98 TJ Sahara come with 3.73 gears or what?

I know the axle can vary but couldnt find the gearing...

Thanks

My 99 Sahara came with 3.07 gears so I would assume the 98s were probably the same, maybe 3.73 were an option with a tow package?

Auto was 373. Stick was 307. Unless it had a d44 then it would be 373

in that case could you run 32" tires comfortably with the 3.07 gearing?

I ran 33's on 307 with a 5 speed. It wasn't a speed demon but it kept up on the highway.

My 99 with the D35 is an auto that came with 3.07s, yea it was a real hot rod. Was there a different option for the 98s?

Dang beat me to it.

OP thats your best bet to see whats installed on your Jeep. Or you could take your vin to the local jeep dealer and ask for a build sheet. They are free and tell you all the OEM components that came with the rig

Also I run 33x12.50s on my Jeep with 3.07s. Like others say its no corvette but it is ok on the highway.
