I opted for the BFG A/T's on one, and getting Yokohama Geolander A/T II's on the other... Greg

the a/t's do better in the snow then m/t's and general street traction is better...the a/t's are also quieter on the road..offroad the m/t are alot better esp. in mud, compared to the a/t's....the m/t's are more aggresive and look alot more offroady (imo better looking)....but the m/t's will wear out faster then the a/t's....i have the bfg's a/t's on my jeep now and as far as street and snow go they are excellent and i couldnt ask for anything better in those conditions.....but my next tire will be a nice m/t, probably bfg since i'm so pleased with the bfg a/t's i have now...
it really depends on what you do with your jeep, if you like going off the road alot dont mind a little bit more noise (i dont really know how much louder they are but i dont think its alot) go for the m/t's....if you get alot of snow where you live and dont go offroading alot go for the a/t's....personally i think if you ever do any offroading in mud i'd lean toward the m/t's... EDIT: I just checked tirerack and the Goodyear are 152 a peice but if you buy 4 you get a $75.00 gas debit card....of course you can probably find them cheaper else where Last edited by Cynic; 03-25-2004 at 08:20 PM.. |

I LOVE my MT/r's...I swear they completely changed my wheeling experience. They are INCREDIBLE in rocks! After I got them, I was amazed the places I could go...some of the guys thought I was locked...:-p Tam ![]()

It depends entirely on the type of wheeling you want to do. Sometimes the MT/R is the clear winner, other times BFG's AT would be a better choice than the MT/R, as good as the MT/R is (I run MT/Rs).
So how do you intend to drive it? Deep mud or deep snow? Rocks? Icy roads? Snow-covered roads? Dirt trails?

If you drive a Jeep with a soft top, I do not think that noise is a factor in tire choice, the jeep is loud anyway. I have had both brands and I will have to say that the MTR are the best tire of the group. I love them and they work outstanding on road and off. You cannot go wrong with either, just depends on what you want to do.
