quick: how do i remove the front driveshaft u-joint

im currently replacing my front driveshaft u-joint on the differential end and i cant figure out how to remove the u-joint cups that are on the driveshaft side.

How do i do this?

Use some needle nose pliers to remove the retainers, then use a socket bigger than the bearing cap on one side and a socket smaller than the bearing cap on the other to “press” the bearing caps out in a bench vise. Same way works to press the new one in, just be careful not to loose any needle bearings or let them get misaligned while assembling

Pop out retainer clips with pliers, screwdriver, etc. Lay the free caps across vise jaws and whack the yoke just below the joint with a hammer. Install new U-joint with vise & sockets as described above.

Do you have the newer style ones with plastic holding the caps in? If you do, heat them up with a torch...

I had to use a bandsaw after mine had siezed inside the shaft. I spent 45 mins trying to get it out and 5 mins cutting it out.

yea there were no clips to remove, i just got impatient and cut the thing out with a torch.
