: UPDATE on Garvin EXT Tire Swing Away

Just got finished installing the EXT Swing-Away. I go to mount my Trail rack and it looks as if I am missing something. Can someone tell me if there is supposed to be two welded brackets along the bottom of the swing away to attach the curved support pole. The entire bottom of mine is empty, therefore there is no way to bolt the mounting bracket on. Of course, Garvin is only open M-F, so I ask for your expertise.

I don't have those supports installed in this pic, but if you click on the pic and get it to come up full sized, you will see the little triangle thing that they bolt to.

Hope that helps.

Yes, that's what I thought. I have the triangular shaped three hole plates but absolutely nothing to bolt them to. Crazy, I hope the Garvin people can help me out Monday when I call. No way I am taking this thing apart and shipping back. Probably end up fabricating 2 pieces and welding them on. Have to see what they say. Thanks for the pic.

Update on Garvin Bumper and Trail Rack....

Called Garvin... They were very sorry, seems as though I received one of their new "updated" versions of the EXT Series. Has new latch, tire carrier, and does NOT utilize the tabs for the trail rack supports. The Trail rack was also updated to get rid of the supports, instead having a stronger mounting bracket. Therfore, they are happily sending me a new "updated" trail rack, and a call tag to ship my rack back. Great service. I also called 4WD Hardware to let them know the trail rack they sent me will not work with the new EXT system, also very greatful.

Good deal. I ran my rack without those supports most of the time anyway, unless carrying a good load on there. I really like that whole system, very stout and got good use out of it.
