Question-rubicon dana 44 rear-4.10 fit standard tj rear dana44
Hi,
The question is will a TJ rubicon dana 44- 4:10 ring and pinion, fit into a standard 2005 tj rear dana44 ,I would like to swap out my 3:07 gears to go to the 4:10s,what is needed,I know rubicon gears are thicker, would you still have to change the carrier. anyone here done this swap?. I can have a set of rear set of 4.10s done 3000miles would you use them. thanks in advance. Peter.

sure you have a Dana 44? I thought that the 44 came only with 3.73's and 4.10 ratios. 3.07 came in Dana 35's. That's what I thought I read anyways! Good luck and hope it works out for ya!

Whoa! The Rubicon D44 R & P are thicker than the regular TJ D44 gears and won't fit your carrier.
See http://ringpinion.com/content/products/default.asp?vid=1&pid=4 and you will see that the Rubicon gears are a different part number. You need to check with Randy's or sombody who knows what fits what. You are also going to have 'set up' the new gears and if you don't know how to do that you will have to pay someone who does, it can be tricky and if you don't get it right you will ruin the gears and possibly all the bearings very quickly. I am in Australia and I had to look twice too, and it is really a rear dana 44 3.07 ratios in 2005, 6speed manual, TJ.
