Put fogs on my 2006 Jeep Wrangler X
My 2006 Wrangler came without fogs, but using the board as a resource, I found it was prewired, by seeing harnesses in the wheel well.
![]() ![]() I realized the jeep had the fog fuse, but no relay, looking in the fuse box under the hood, it needed the relay, the female receptors were there so I just got the relay part number off here, bought it and plugged it in. These pics show the relay already plugged in. Relay part # 4671168 ![]() ![]() [ I replaced the multifunction switch, I removed the two philips head screws on the steering column, and pryed the molding apart gently, then there are some torx screws that need to be removed, then remove the harnesses. Remove the wiper control, by unscrewing two small torx screws and attach to new fog light capable switch. Also I had to remove a relay (which maybe the dimmer switch?), from the back of the old unit and plugged into the new one, then plug it all in, and bolt it all up. Switch part number 5016709-AD. ![]() I went with KC Fog replacement lights for the 2005-2006 TJ's, I chose these because they are plug in replacement, metal housing. The only thing I found was KC wants you to drill the bumper to fit their bolts, instead I went to lowes and picked up some 5/16" bolts with lock washers, washers and bolts, grade 8, loctite and they fit perfectly, $2.00 saved me a lot of PITA with drilling. ![]() ![]() ![]() The end Result (w/ and w/o guards not aligned yet): ![]() ![]() I did not go with the mopar complete fog kit because that would involve running wire, and why if the wire is already there. The 2003-up kit probably will not have used these harnesses, because the harnesses changed between 2003-2004 and 2005-2006. Also the mopar lights are plastic, KC are metal and warrantied for 23 year...you can't beat KC. In the end this was even more plug and play (no wire running). I could have pieced it the way I did and got individual stock fogs from Jeep but they were $79.00 a piece compared to KC's @ $69.00 each. I also recommend putting some bulb grease / dielectric grease on the harness, this is to prevent corrosion, being that the harness is in the wheel well, I feel it is a good idea, and a packet of it can be had for under $2.00 at autozone. I got the mopar stuff from www.wholesalemopar.com and the KC's from JC Whitney because they had the best price, esp. with fatwallet money. UPDATE 1/7/08: people have had issues with wholesale mopar sending bad switches, and I am sorry for that, you can however get the mopar stuff at a local jeep dealer or any dealer online. Other than that my setup has been working well.

very nice. my 06 did not come prewired
![]() I knew zero about electrical wiring and had the board school me on it. heh I went and bought hellas and did the same thing you did, it required enlarging of the holes on the bumper so i skipped that and went to HD for some washers and bolts. |

moparparts.com?
Truckin, are you sure that site was moparparts.com, because all I get is a holding page for a domain name speculator and three popup windows.

These specific KC's (the replacement ones) are a direct replacement and plug directly to the stock harness that is why I bought them, plus the mopars are like 79.00, these are 69.00.
The relay part # 4671168 I don't know the switch part#, you can just search for it under blink switch w/ fogs at mopar part, jeeps are us has it too. sorry it is www.wholesalemopar.com (had to look at the receipt, the box does say www.moparpart.com) Last edited by truckin88; 04-26-2007 at 11:43 PM.. |

no problem, enjoy and just take your time with the steering column, that was really the hardest part, cause you do not want to snap any plastic pieces, so by gentle, after that the rest is easy!!!

I have a 2006 and want to add fog lights as you have.
I have the wiring under the front fenders. Tomorrow I will check my fuse box to see where the relay goes but I am confused at the point of what you did in the steering column. Were more parts needed? Did you unplug a dimmer switch and use that to control the lights? I had been thinking I needed to go to the blanks in the console under the radio/CD player to add my switch.
