Purchased new tinted back windows - did you do the front yourself?

I just received my rear tinted windows the day before last. It is nice to have brand new plastic up without the minor scratches. It really makes the jeep look new again. For approximately $210.00, it was well worth the cost. I highly recommend the tinted windows if you don't already have them.

The employees up at Savage Jeep are real stand-up guys. They are very pleasent to deal with. I actually ordered the wrong windows and they did not charge me shipping for the second set - which was around $18.00. (By the way...there is a difference between khaki and tan - khaki is the old-school version which is more of a greenish gray). Here is the link if you would like to purchase a replacement set of tinted windows...http://jparts.com/product_info.php?m...ff222a8852c785 The windows are OEM by the way.

So I was wondering if you guys tinted your driver and passenger side windows yourself or you paid to have it done. How much did it cost if you had it done by someone else?

I had mine tined with 13% (yes, illegal in my state).. It only cost me $75 for both windows. Lifetime warranty as well. As big as the Wrangler windows are, the 13% looks like most cars with the 30% or so.

if you have soft uppers, i think it becomes a problem. i think people have tried it on here and it just bubbled a lot.

I've yet to see a home-made tint job that looked worth a crap. I have a local shop that tints doors at $25 each.

I did mine myself with 5% tint. Its super easy since the windows are completly flat. the best price I could find at local shops was $75 for both windows and a strip on the windshield. I paid $10 for the tint at Wal-mart.

My brother used to tint windows professionally and he taught me how to do it. You can't tell that mine were not done professionally.

I'm getting mine done soon.

And for free.

Only because the guy doing them left me holding the bag one night and I got arrested and he didn't.

I used to do all of my own tinting and if you get quality material and have everything to do it, it's not that difficult, especially on Jeep windows. My current ride came dealer prepped with 33% already installed on the full-door glass, but if I ever have to replace it, most places around here are only like $20-30 a window.

^^^ That sucks. Literally "the bag" huh? I think I would rather pay for my tint

Hmmm...I need to call around and ask how much they would charge. I was thinking it would be pretty easy to do. Hell my Dad did his Trans-Am when I was young by himself and it looked good. I figured it would be pretty easy to do on our windows - as flat as they are.

I just can't see spending $30.00 per window, and sure as hell not $40 per, to just tint them. Even though tint shops warranty their work - I've seen more than a few people get screwed because the shop closed up a couple of years/months later, etc. and not get their tint replaced.

So I haven't fully decided yet. Thanks for the replys though.

Have any of you guys ever used a tint warranty successfully on any vehicle?

I have the factory tinted hard top, and honestly, if I got my front windows tinted, I couldn't see a damn thing at night, as it is now I can hardly see to back-up at night.....

Does look good though

I got mine done, can't remember what percent, but it doesn't match the rear windows. I didn't want it too dark, because I like the more "open" feeling when I drive the Jeep.
