Pros and Cons of a direct drive fan

Years ago i lost my fan clutch due to playing in mud.... I replaced it with a direct drive fan, i'm wondering how much a direct drive flex fan hurts gas mileage if at all. Just wondering if it is worth it to go back to the factory fan with the clutch.

It will roar quite a bit and probably knock off 1 or 2 mpg. At least that was my experience when my clutch froze.

i been running it for 10 years... just wondering if it would be worth it to go back to the stock style... when my fan clutch died it would never engage.
