Project: Scary Canary (Low Rider TJ)

We have been very busy here at BTF. We recently moved the shop to Birmingham, AL. Here is one of the first custom projects to roll through the new shop. It is a Jeep TJ.

We are building the vehicle as low as possible around some exsisting parts the customer already had. In other words the PSC fenders and corners. The tire size is the 41 inch IROC. The axles are ProRock 60's front and rear. The axle width is same as stock. The axles do have one inch wheel spacers. The Jeep came in with a one inch body lift. I decided to leave it one to help keep the drivetrain up and out of the way.

The Jeep has the stock engine, tranny, and t-case. We will be making some changes to the t-case in order to install the High Angle Driveline shafts. The rear will have a 1350 CV at the case and a 1350 at the axle. The front shaft will be a 2-piece shaft with 1350 joints.

The front and rear suspension are both 4 linked. The rear is a double tri link setup while the front is a reverse 4 link setup. All the liink ends on this build have huge 1.25x1 hiems. The link tube is 2 inch OD x .25: wall DOM. Most all of the link parts are off the shelf BTF product. BTF is not just a bracket and tab company. Our experience in the industry comes from building world class rock crawlers in the shop everyday.

If you have questions be sure to post up.

Here are some pics....

I love the idea of low COG but If I stood on the slider I think the tire would rub.

actually it will not scrub at full bump. The pic you saw does not show the TJ at ride height. I will post up more pics when we have it at ride.

The fuel cell pictured above is something we custom made here in the shop for this project. It sits through the floor in the rear to the bottom of the frame rails that we made. The cell holds about 16 gallons. It has internal baffles and a bottom sump. The sump is where the fuel pick up and return are located. Tig welding aluminum is FUN....

Great idea. I was gonna ask about the capacity. If you made the top square instead of beveled back I assume you would get close to the stock 19 gallon capacity? What thickness and grade of aluminum do you guys use for the cell?

The back frame section, is that the kit you guys sell?

I dig the front pseudo stinger. Looks great.. now get some ride height pics!

Hmm that reservoir mount/brace under the engine bay isn't removable? I guess you gotta get out the cut off wheel if you have to remove the motor.
