Got a call as soon as I arrived in the door that they actually did not receive the tires yet and they were back ordered for up to ten days. So why did the man at the counter acknowledge me like he knew about the tires and like they were there ready to be installed? Argh!

My room mate was going to be my ride, but due to unfortunate coincidence the parking brake seized. The little car can not break them free on its own either.
I'm glad you finally decied to go with the 33s. You won't regret it!

Tires
Tires tires tires tires tires TIRES! Here is the story, the local service center was having a hard time getting the tires I wanted stating they were out of stock every where. I could find them to be shipped online, but I had no desire to pay shipping on top of mounting. When I called the service center earlier today I was not convinced they had any idea where they were located so I asked them to cancel the order. This was also with amazing timing since another local LJ owner posted his stock ravine rims and BFGoodrich 32x11.50R15 tires on Craigslist asking $500 for all five. I had bought them faster than any else could, literally today! The cost for the brand new tires would have been over $1,000 so this is an amazing savings for me. The tires were not exactly what I was aiming for though close enough. The rims are in great shape besides some minor rubbing on the edges. They only need some cleaning and a new paint scheme.

After removing the layer of dirt and grease the inside of the rims are covered in baked on brake dust.

Sixty grit flap sanding wheels are great for removing the brake dust and preparing the surface for painting.

Primer finish, looking good so far.

Sprayed black with Krylong high temperature barbecue grill paint in a semi-gloss. The outside of the rims will be done with normal gloss paint.

The rims with final paint! I plan to take the polisher to them to shine them up some. The center caps are still being painted. I have extras so I am experimenting with either a silver Jeep logo on a black cap or the opposite.

On 10/25/2008 I drove a combined twenty hours from Pennsylvania to Virginia to buy this Jeep. I have always wanted the newer Wrangler in Electric Lime Green, but I was just get out of high school when they came out. I also wanted an Unlimited at the time as well! I patiently wait checking for sale listings and eventually I find it! A 2004 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited in Electric Lime Green. I found both of what I wanted in the same Jeep for cheap! I paid $10,000 total for the Jeep, $4,000 less than suggested retail. It has a few issues, but the savings on the Jeep actually is much better for fixing those issues.

I will be writing more posts through out the day as I prepare the photographs and upload them to my server. I already have a few things done and will be working on locks tonight.

Be very careful with the wife mod. Uninstallation can be extremely expensive. Wife mods have been known to take the Jeep and all other mods during the uninstall process. Also, make sure you service your wife mod properly as often as humanly possible. Wife mods not properly serviced may malfunction or uninstall themselves at any time.

Painting the headlight bezels black would go very well with those black wheels.

Or if you don't want to try to paint them, you can buy some black ones. They're on my "to get list".

I will be painting the flares and head light trim rings all at the same time.

The big chrome tube steps will disappear eventually as well. I want to get some rocker guards that do not actually wrap around the tub. More of a very durable step.

Thank you for the comments every one!

Alexia,Brava Bella, I'm planning to the same thing to my Ravines. I'm going to change my gears to 4.88s this Memorial Day as a b-day gift to myself. I'll have to bump up to 33s,so during the transition,I'm going to paint my Ravines a dark olive. Kudos to all of your hard work. Looks Bellisema! Keep on keeping on

Alex, glad to find you here as well!! Those wheels look great!! As that "local LJ owner," I had always wanted to paint them myself, not true black, but more of a charcoal color. Anyway, nice work. That deal worked out great for both of us!

You should hook up with my Jeep club, jeepsrus (www.jeepsrus.org), come out wheelin with us.

Also, you mentioned one of your buddies does detailing, right? I need a professional detail pretty bad. My three year old paint has taken a beating!
