I've seen many people do things to their little 4 cyls and only two options have proven to help. Regear or motor swap.

You can swap out your throttle body for the 4.0 version. All you need is a used body and a new gasket. Used body's are easy to find and all you have to do is clean it up and transfer your 2.5 TPS and IAC devices. Not a power adder but will improve throttle response.

Regear or draft behind a 4.0 with 3.07's.

Or you could press the gas pedal a little harder. That does the same thing for free.

Regearing is really the only way to go (unless you opt for an engine swap). There are some mods that probably do increase power a bit, but the eventuality is that the horsepower gain is negligible and you will just wear your engine out way faster. I have 4.88s and 33s and have no trouble on the freeway nor do I lack power offroad. I would like a 4:1 conversion in my t-case though
