Priming and painting aluminum wheels

I just had my canyon wheels sandblasted. Do I need to sand them before I prime them? They are fairly rough. Do I need to use self etching primer since they have been blasted or use normal primer? What is a good paint to use? I would like to paint them silver or a darkish silver.
