pricing for lift intall.
A local 4x4 shop told me they would install my 2" suspension lift (coils and shocks) for around $400-500 (alignment included). Rip-off or Not?

Most places I've been to said around $250 (if they sold it) to $350 (if you brought one in for install). Different people have different prices, but that seems a littl steep.

it may not be a rip off but do yourself a huge favor and install the lift yourself. it really is a lot easier than you would think. if you don't have all the tools needed, it will still cost a ton less to pick up a few and what you will learn will be priceless.
Click here to see my 2" budget boost installation write-up basically the exact same thing as what you will need to do except that you will have new coils instead of spacers. let me know if you have any questions. ![]() |

I don't know how much experience you have on vehicles, but I had none other than putting fuel in them and did mine by myself. You can rent the tools from Auto Zone for free and just follow the directions. Save ya a bunch of money to put towards something else.

I'd like to do mine myself, but I would also need my father's help. He delivers for UPS and never has time in the evening. I also sense that he is afraid of doing this because this will be the first time for both of us. I might end up getting a mechanic who rebuilt a motor for us to do it.

Come by my house and I'll do it for 50 bucks. Just get some friends some beer and pizza for helping you and yall outta have it done in 5 hrs, tops. Mine only took six hours, but i had to install a rear track bar bracket and drill a hole for the front trackbar and other crap like that. That time for me also includes lunch too.

Get into a local club (or local offroad forum) and ask for help. Pick a date, buy some beer and wings, and get people over. It is really worth it in the long run. Then after you have had the chance to learn by doing yours with help go help someone else.

Forreal, I'll do it for $50, or just a case of beer and the promise of more beer.
Where are you located? Someone on here will help you no doubt. -Chris

Really, where are you located? I'll do it for F-R-E-E, just to have something to do.

I've done a couple lift installations for others in my garage for free and it's never taken more than 3-4 hours. A 2" lift can take as little as 2 hours, they're pretty easy. $400 to $500 to install that size lift is a total rip-off.

make a post for people near by to help you with your lift or go talk to some guys/gals from a local club or something. that is your best bet, youll have access from otheres to tools and knowledge that you dont have yet and you will come out with a nice lift as well as more knowledge of your jeep. Guys around here just buy some beers and pizza and have a bunch of folks over to help em out (wrenchfest)
