Pocket Style Fender Flares
sup guys,
I'm looking to replace the stock fenders on my wife's '06 Rubicon with a set of Bushwacker 4¾" fenders. http://www.quadratec.com/products/12506_420_07.htm I'm having trouble finding reviews so I thought I'd tap into the vast experience I've seen displayed on this board. Installation looks easy but I was curious if anyone here has had any issues with these fenders as far as warping, fading or cracking. I think the OEM matte black finish will look good as is so painting won't be an issue. Any input is greatly appreciated. ![]()

Those style bushwackers are known for their fragility and poor construction.
Often people complain how easily they break and crack.

Bushcracker flares are fine as long as she doesn't bang them on anything.

I have a pair on my jeep now...its a street jeep at the moment and i have had no issues with them at all. They were a bit of a pain to install. I have the wider version too not that it makes a difference. Long as your wife doesnt intend on doing any hardcore wheeling or crawling you should be fine, if not avoid these flairs.

The only thing that could possibly cause damage would be a runaway shopping cart.
![]() It's rare but I have got her to go out on a trail before in wide open spaces, so I don't see an issue with hitting anything. How were they a pain to install? Looked pretty straightforward in the instructions. And yea les.delancy, the stock ones are at 4 1/2 inches but she likes the look of the Bushwackers and as us married guys say: The train to Nookeyville runs right through Compliance. |

Had a minor accident (minor to the jeep anyway, the car that hit me probably wouldnt agree
) back in Jan and the passenger side flares pretty much shattered (they were aftermarket 7" or so, but not sure of the brand since they were there when I got the Jeep) because of the -20* that it happened in.I ended up putting a pair of 6" bushwackers on and kind of regret it. They definitely seem like they will be much more likely to crack if they ever get hit by anything and the way they slope down almost makes it seem like I lost a decent amount of tire clearance ![]() I'm just counting the days until I can justify replacing them with something else. Jerry B's thread on his flat flares make them look pretty nice and attractive. |

I've had my flairs for a couple of years. They were real easy to install and they seem to be holdin gup fairly well.I have smacked one on a cement pole and it only marred the finish. It didnt crack, shatter, or otherwise get messed up.
I'll be going flat fender as soon as I can. |
