Pics of my new '99 Wrangler

Hey guys, I just got my Wrangler the other day! I love it so far. Its a 1999 SE 4-banger, with hard and soft tops. I started out witha few inexpensive mods; Fog lights, and seat covers. It came with a tow hitch, but I think Im giong to get a bumper with a hitch in it instead. I was wondering if any of you out there tow a boat like mine with a 4 banger.. The boats 17 ft. And weighs around 2000 i think. Theres pics of my boat in the album.. Havent tried yet and would like to know if it can handle it before i put a lot of money into it. I am also thinking about getting some 31's and a 1' lift.

well here are the pics: http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4286552539

Excited to participate in this great forum,

Jason B

welcome to the forum...you're probably not gonna be towing a boat with your TJ...I think the max rating for the I6 is 2000lbs, so I'm gonna "guess" that the 4-banger is even less...

you can run the 31's with no lift...

I'd consider a 2" coil spacer lift as a starting point...maybe even combined with a 1" body lift...then, you can run 32's or 33's...

We've got a 98 4 banger in my family's driveway back home. The reason the I-6 is rated at 2000lbs has nothing to do with it's engine but with it's wheelbase. Any more weight (or even a pretty long trailer to be honest) is going to take control going through turns and during abrupt stops. A 4-banger however can definately pull a 2000 lbs trailer. The joy in towing a boat with a jeep is that you can launch it practically anywhere since the jeep can ford water to it's headlights.

However, respect that weight limit or you'll get in more trouble than you care to experience.

Ya.. I got a ball and hitch today and to my surprise and agony, they made an inset in the reciever so the hitch can only go so far back and then it stops.. This prooved to be a problem as i ended up hammering the hitch until the inset finally broke.. After I got it all in I took the boat for a spin.. Taking it on everyday hills and turns.. Seemed to be handling fine.. Its not fast but it can pull it.. The max speed i went was like 35 though.. So I'll have to take it out tommorow in the daytime and see how it handles while goin faster.. The only thing is I dont know how heavy that boat is.. I've been doing some research and its probably over 2000 without trailer so.. Well thanks for your vibes, I'll be sure to tell you how it rides after tommorow..
