I want to hear about your brakes if you have 35" tires. If you have stock brakes tell me about that also.

Running 35" BFG MTR's. Currently my brakes are stock while I save up for the Vanco brake upgrade. I am not in any real hurry as right now my rig is in Las Vegas and I am in Korea.

I've got stock brakes and 35's.It takes awhile to get used to,but I don't tailgate anymore. After a week or two,you don't notice the difference until you drive a stock Jeep.No plans on buying Vanco for the $750+ price.

I've got 4 wheel disc brakes (don't make a huge difference at all) and plan on buying the Vanco when I have the money.

Just installed the Vanco 16" kit about a month ago. To me, this is a mandatory upgrade when running 35" tires. The confidence level is like night and day. The stock brakes are marginal at best.

It proved itself just yesterday when a lady slammed her brakes on, right in front of me, for no apparent reason that I could see, at about 30 MPH. I would have surely hit her had I still been running the stock system.

Disks front and rear made a big difference over disk/ drum. I will not be doing anything else unless i upgrade the axles and i will get a full sized master cylinder.

stock for now and it's "OK"...

I'll be sourceing some ZJ rear discs for a drum to disc conversion and switching to ceramic pads but that will be all....

I have the 8.8 rear and the disc set up that comes with that stock and it is a huge upgrade in braking over stock with the 35s I would like the vanco kit someday, but I will probably upgrade my front end before that.

Changed rear drums to disks, no change other than easier maintenance.
Installed one of the original Vanco 15" kits a little over 2 years ago. The kit came with Performance Friction pads. Huge improvement over the stock setup.
Upgraded to Centric Ceramic pads and the larger caliper setup; another large leap in performance.
Upgraded to EBC green pads; a huge leap, probably greater than the ceramics and caliper change.

I haven't upgraded yet to the Yellows EBC pads, but each of these changes was so significant you could very easily tell the difference each time, and this is on the smallest disk kit.
It's not so much just the ability to lock up the brakes, but its the extra control you have over your braking. It's far easier to modulate and you get a far greater sense of control of your braking.

i have 35's and stock brakes, they suck. upgrading to rear disc will not iprove your stopping power to any noticable degree. the rear drums are fine in the rear for the purpose they serve. i plan on upgrading to the yellow stuff pads and premium rotors, in a few months. those will be fine until i upgrade to 1 ton axles after my next deployment. as for now my jeep sees only 2-3 miles of rural driving a day.if you plan on keeping the stock axle i would suggest the vanco kit. $750 is cheap considering the confidence you will have in your rigs stopping power and the cost of paying ro another vehicles damage when you cram your heavy duty bumper through there trunk and rear window and injuring passengers because you cant stop your big tires.

The stock brakes and 35" BFG ATs weren't too bad but with the much heavier Maxxis Creepy Crawlers it's not a DD anymore.

Ordered Vancos 2+ months ago, should ship soon I hope.

Ford 8.8 with factory discs and factory front Dana 30 discs with 35" TrXus MT's. Stops great, much better than the drums I used to have on my Dana 35 rearend. Big improvement. On my old drum brakes, it would get pretty scary if I had to make a quick stop at highway speed, I don't recomend running 35's on stock drum rearend brakes if you can avoid it.

Not a DD anymore, stock brakes on 36" Irok's work ok on the trail for me...would love to upgrade but hate the thought of putting more money into the D30...

Same here. I noticed a significant difference in stopping ability with the rear discs.
