I bought a can of penetrol to try on my flairs. My question is can I do it right on the jeep or will it hurt the paint on the body? Should I pull the flairs?

Don't get it on your paint, not good. What I would suggest is getting a bowl, pour some in... then get a sponge brush. Make sure your flares are clean and just paint it on them. I mean the stuff isn't paint remover if you splash a little just wipe it off. Be careful though the stuff has a tendency to turn yellow on the paint of the Jeep itself. You can mask off the paint right near the flares if you want... but removing them is not necessary and way too much work for nothing.

Where does one get penetrol ...I'm not familliar with it. Also, you just paint it on and your done? I have a black jeep, and it's now two-toned because of the flares turning gray. If I could darken them up, I would be happy!

It's an additive for paint. You can find it at your local Home Depot in the paint section. Just follow my advice above. You may need a few coats of it if they are faded really bad... also try to do it indoors because this stuff is sticky at first and will attract dust before it drys and don't drive it until they are completely dry.

Do you wipe it off afterwards or just leave it on to dry?

Also, what is the drying time needed?

some people on here said to wipe it off, but it just got really tacky so i just let it dry. took a couple of hours i think, but i put several coats on. make sure the flares are dry when you do it, and let them dry completely before driving in the rain or anything.

i agree with Rocky. i did mine outside and drove before it
was completely dry. it had so much crap on there but after
washing them off it still stuck and looked good. im in the process
of doing my hardtop now after seeing that one guys. mine is
turning out almost as good but it so far only has one coat.
i did get it all on the paint around the edge of the flares and
yeah that crap is on there!! i think im gonna try goo gone or oops
or something on it to see if it will come off.

Depends on the weather conditions. Just touch a spot and see if it's tacky. Don't wipe.. if you do don't use a terry cloth towel for example, lint will get all over them. Just apply a even coat, streaking shouldn't occur. If it does, apply another coat until they are perfect.

Try it.. over time it will go away by itself. It's not like a noticeable yellow... more of a tint if you look at it in the light a certain way. It kind of looks like armor-all streaks on metal.

didnt read many of the other post but i'll throw in my $.02. I took mine off the jeep and used a big buffing wheel to get all the "grey" off of the flares. Then i loaded up the penatrol, let it dry for 10 mins and wiped it off. The next morning i put another coat on and did the same thing. When i would get home from work i would buff the things real lightly again after the stuff hardened a little more and they ended up all looking great! I wouldnt say all the extra time waiting around for the stuff to dry was really important but getting all that grey off made a huge difference. mine were pretty bad when i started and now they look new and shiny all the time
