Passenger brake light won't work

I recently replaced the tail light on the passenger side. No matter how I played with the wiring and can't seem to get everything working correctly. When I press the brakes, the light is dim as if the running lights were on. When I turn the running lights on, the light is brighter as if the brake was being pressed.

Anyone have a suggestions?

I've ordered a new flasher cause I put LED's on the front, so I won't know about the turn signals til that's replaced.

Also, I noticed that the wires for trailer lights had been cut or torn by the PO, could that have something to do with it?

Thanks guys

That could be nothing more than a bad electrical ground connection for the bulb enclosure. The rear tail lights are grounded via the three screws that hold the housing to the tub. I would remove all three screws and wire brush them and what they screw into, then solidly reinstall them.

running light bright + brakes light dim = bulb forced in the wrong way round, or tail light wired incorrectly.
