Painting new A to Z rocker guards

I just got my new A to Z Rocker guards - bare metal, and I am looking for pointers on painting.

Should I degrease them, use self etching primer and the some rustoleum rattle can paint?

Or should I use POR-15 on them and then some rustoleum for topcoat?

Looking for something that will hold up to Northern winters and lots of road salt.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Used self-etching primer and rustoleum satin on my Savvy rockers and they seem to have come through their first NY winter in great shape. Now I just need to use them for what they were intended a bit more.

rhino lining or line-x seems to hold up nicely on rocker guards. Not as easy to touch up when a rock kisses them though.

Cleaned mine off with brake Klean and brush painted them with Rustolem black satin paint. Look fine to me and easy touch up when scratched.

Primed my A to Z rockers with rattlecan primer for bare metal that I got at Lowe's and then used Duplicolor Bedliner rattlecan spray for top coat. It has a rough, no slip finish and is easy to touch up.

3 coats of primer and 2 coats of Duplicolor.

I decreased mine with acetone, primed with a name brand self etching primer (Rustoleum I think?) and then painted with Krylon satin black. The finish is nice enough, but it seems to chip easy and when it does, it goes down to bare metal. Not sure where I messed up. Easy enough to touch up when it chips and hasn't peeled yet, so as long as I don't have any other issues I will leave it as is.

I cleaned with acetone, then painted and primed with rustoleum. Mine still look great.

^Last summer I painted Detours drop-kick slyders with Dupli-Color bed liner spray. It gave them a rough finish, and the spray wasn't exactly black (as in the photo below). The bed liner spray filled in rough spots. I then took Rustoleum gloss black over it which smoothed it out.

If you use POR use BLACKCOTE and not POR-15. I failed to read the diretions for POR 15; as a reslut, I am painting my rockers again. POR 15 is sensitive to UV light so you have to top coat it. If you dont it will look like crap in 4 months like mine do>
