ORO SwayLOC bushing too small?

OK, I'm pissed. I just got back from Kuwait, and decided to go ahead and start my build tonight. Out of my mountain of Jeep parts in the garage, I grabbed the ORO SwayLOC first. I have one of the "new generation" SwayLOCs. It came in the mail a few months ago. So, I doubt it's one of the old ones. So, anyways, we sat down to work...

We take the bumper off, grind my seized lower sway bar link bolts off (since they haven't been taken off in a year) and it wasn't happening. Anyways, the first step is to grease the inside of the poly bushings, and then beat one of them into the front crossmember of the Jeep. Then, the instructions say to insert the outer sway bar through the crossmember tube and push it through the bushing... Small problem, the bushing is about 1/4" smaller than the tube. No amount of lubrication is going to make the outer sway bar fit in that bushing. Now I'm driving with no front swaybar until this gets resolved. lol.

SO... Anyone else installed SwayLOC lately? Anyone else have this problem? I'm pretty pissed. I called ORO and left a message, let's hope that I get a call tomorrow. Meh.

This had better not be any indication of the rest of my build.

"LCOG" isn't cheap and it certainly isn't easy. If you think so, you are doing it wrong. If you aren't willing to put in the effort, don't label your build "LCOG". You are just a cheap ******bag.

I got mine around the middle of May. I had no problems with the install at all.

I assume the shaft will not go through the bushing before the bushing is mounted?

I know they are not a huge operation, sometimes no one is there to answer the phone. He also does not hang out on the forums. But if you don't hear back right away from them try again. I know they will make it right.

BTW I really like mine, I think you will too.

James,

Steve at ORO is real good about calls, but you should try calling after 9a (CDT).

Now if they can't make you happy, I'll trade you my Currie Antirock straight up.

Good luck.

Spyder, a hammer won't do any good. It's a poly bushing. You aren't going to get that much give from it. I thought about wallowing it out and forcing it in that way, but figured I'd wait a day to find out what the ORO guys have to say first. I'm sure I can make it work by wallowing it out if I have to, I just would have preferred a smooth install.

Red Rubi, it's good to know you have a newer one and didn't have any problems. I'm wondering if someone maybe just grabbed the wrong parts and threw them in the box or something. I really don't see how this could have happened. It fits in the crossmember fine. It's a good tight fight like you'd think it would be. But there is just NO way the bigger, outer tube is going into that bushing. It's not going into that bushing whether it's inside, or outside of the crossmember. The bushing is simply too small.

Thachiya, If they can't make me happy with their product, I'll be getting a refund. In the civilian sector I work in sales. I'm the worst type of unsatisfied customer. I'm sure Steve will do the right thing, I'd just like to know how the hell it's supposed to work. It's physically impossible with what I have in my possession currently.

They had excellent customer service when I had a small issue with my Gen-1 SwayLoc.

I emailed them and it took a day or two to get back to me but the issue was resolved quickly and very fairly. A phone call probably would have been quicker.

Good luck
Dave

Nevermind, I was right. I just got off the phone with ORO. They grabbed them out of the wrong bin like I had thought. I should have the right ones here in a few days. Chuck over at ORO took care of me.

What's to deal with? ORO changed sway bar diameters and somewhere in the process you got the wrong bushings. Unless you want to make your own, let ORO fix their screw-up.

I wanted to know if it was something common, or I was supposed to wallow the bushing out myself, or perhaps I was just not understanding instructions, or was missing pieces or something else similar to that. They are taking care of it though. Thanks.
