Option 1 and 2?

We just bought our first Jeep, a 2000 TJ Scout with 14,000 miles on it. I have a lot to learn. For instance, I keep seeing Option 1 or Option 2 but I don't know what that means. Would someone explain it to me please? How would I know if our Jeep was purchased as Option 1 or 2? We don't have the original window sticker.

Also, to prove that I am a real newbie, I have a second question- what is better about the Dana 44 vs the Dana 35 rear end that I have? Should I be losing sleep over it?

Bear with me, these probably won't be my last newbie questions.

Thanks in advance,
Jeeptowed

PS- we love our 'new' Jeep.

not sure about the options 1 and 2, so Ill just answer the axle question. The dana 44 is a stronger axle than the notoriously weak dana 35. The dana 35 has 27 spline shafts vs the 30-31(?) spine shafts that your d44 has. That said, that only really matters if your planning bigger tires, even then your safe up to at least 33's. And contrary to popular belief, your d35 wont spontaneously explode.

To see what your Jeep has go to the Jeep web site and request a build sheet. You will need your vin #.

X2

most of us have the D35 rear diff....until you start getting into the "hobby" (AKA: Obsession) i wouldn't lose a wink of sleep over it. The D35 will hold up to a reasonable amount of abuse...Unless you are rock crawling and running huge tires, your prob. OK. I'll run mine until it "gernades" the upgrade to the D44. Just my 2cents

X2 on the DANA 35.
It's not as bad as they say.
I had it in my YJ and now in my TJ and I never lose sleep over it.

If I found myself with some cash and some time, I'd change the axle, but not just yet......

As always with this kind of post, I'll add:
My Jeep is more capable than I am.

Jeep 'build sheet' on web site

I spent the last hour on the Jeep.com website. Good site and worth the time, but I could not find a way to enter my VIN and get a 'build sheet' on my 4x4. Would someone please tell me what I am missing?

Don't bother with the website. They'll send you a letter saying that because of the privacy act they can't release the info. Go to a Jeep dealership and tell them you'd like to see the factory listing of all of the options for your Jeep. Bring them your VIN. Dealerships don't care. At least mine didn't. It took all of 5 minutes, and he acted like it was the easiest thing in the world. Good luck.

Rear Currie 4" coils - 190 shipped. (They've been sitting in the back of my Jeep for mock up but won't work out for me.)

Hornblasters Shocker S4 horn set with some extras $210 shipped. (It is not OBA, just an accessory for OBA)

"LCOG" isn't cheap and it certainly isn't easy. If you think so, you are doing it wrong. If you aren't willing to put in the effort, don't label your build "LCOG". You are just a cheap ******bag.

You can get your build sheet here: http://www-5.jeep.com/wccsapp/univer...ull&category=U

Just tell them you want a copy of your buildsheet emailed to you. Make sure to include your vin number. I did this, but it was about 8 or 9 months ago...

And welcome to your new addiction!!!

TJ Scout huh? Is that some kind of blasphemous joke?

I don't know about the websites and all that. I JUST tried to get mine about a month ago. And I have the letter from Chrysler telling me that I can't have it. I'd still just go to your dealership.

No such thing as a TJ "Scout," and never heard of Option 1 or Option 2.

Here's a great site for info on available standard features and options:

You just have to reply and say that you are indeed the owner of this vehicle and would be happy to prove ownership to receive a build sheet. Then, instead of actually requesting any proof or information, they will forward you the build sheet.

My sincere apologies for the slip, I did mean to say "Sport" and not "Scout". I don't know if the slip is due to being a newbie or it is my age catching up with me. Turning 53 this week.
