Opinions on this Pro Comp Rear Bumper......

http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?jeep-sid=237&plID=0&partID=9768

Does anyone have any testimonials/opinions/experience of/with this bumper? It seems way to cheap to even be decent and strong. I have been looking a long time for a good price on a rear bumper with a receiver( i know this one is not "integrated" into the bumper like most others are) and d-ring tabs (have been looking for 1 inch thick ones to match my kilby front bumpers). Any info or pics of this bumper mounted on you jeep would help. I have not been a fan of pro comp in the past, but maybe someone could help sway my decision......... Oh and I DID search and found very little useful, up to date information. Im looking for solid reviews, not just hearsay!

This is the best I've got.

It's a nice bumper. I was highly impressed for it's cost.

It's 1/4" thick steel.

The mounting works fine, but it doesn't tie-in to the frame (Like quite a few bumpers out there).
If you were to use the receiver to tow (though it's not rated for towing), I would definately get some frame tie-ins from Rokmen (that's what I have, and they're excellent), Poison Spyder, Rockhard, etc.
Actually, I'd get them anyways, even for recovery purposes.

If you get it I think you'll be happy. It looks real good and fellow Jeepers always comment on it...and are amazed when I tell them what it cost.

It actually comes with 2 shackles, but they weren't stamped with a SWL, so I'd ditch them, and get some ones that are rated and of good quality.

Love the way that bumper looks. But I need one with a tire carrier for 33s and a receiver that I can tow with.

I'm gonna be building a tire carrier for mine.
I've got all the gear, but haven't even started yet. Should be interesting.
I tow with mine, but it's not rated for it.

I have it too, but mine has a tongue weight and trailer weight rating placard riveted on the top of the hitch mount

I had one on my YJ for 2 years. Other than one minor blemish (pea-sized, right at the D-Ring bracket weld), the finish still looked good, no rust (2 Michigan winters). I towed my boat with it several times - 1040 pounds and used it a number of times for winch pull and/or strap yank, and mounted my loaded hitch basket on it several times. Never had any complaints. Tied into the frame good and solid - 8 bolts w/backing plates through the rear cross member, 2 1/2" bolts up into the rear frame. Solid as a rock.

One said it bolts to the frame, others said not. How can a bumper not be bolted to the frame back there?

I believe they mean that it's not ""really" bolted to the frame like a Hidden Hitch or something is bolted to the frame with 4 or 5 big bolts per side. The bumper is, however, attached to the crossmember, which is attached to the frame, and as stated, only two bolts actually attach the bumper directly to the frame. That's the way my HighRock bumber is anyway.

You could look into the Bestop High Rock rear bumper and then buy their tire carrier seperately...

EDIT: Actually you'd be money ahead by buying the Pro Comp bumper and the Bestop tire carrier...

falling prices??

Must be they lowered their price since you added the link above. I just checked and they are only $111 plus shipping. Man the front is only $79.....that's pretty cheap protection.
