OMFG Bushwacker

I dinged up my right rear corner last week. Thought I’d just order some cladding to put over it. After a fair amount of research I ordered the Bushwacker plastic ones. Before you laugh, I was thinking these things would be made of UHMW plastic. People around here (Florida) run this stuff (we call it polymer) on the bottom of airboats and it is unbelievably tough. We run our boats over rocks, dry oyster beds, roads, parking lots… you get the picture, and it lasts for years. It is mostly used in ¼ or 3/8 thickness. It is similar to the material plastic cutting boards are made of.

Well, the stuff gets here – and I can’t describe how chintzy and cheap it is. I mean the little insert between your grill and front bumper is eons heavier than these toy plastic pieces of S H I T. A good BB gun would shoot straight through a half-dozen put together. And I paid $76 plus $14 shipping for these things. Seriously, if Wal-Mart sold these they would be less than $10.

They are going back. Going to cost me shipping both ways and a restock fee but maybe this note will save some of you guys from the same thing.

I hear ya, I ordered the rocker sliders and they have already went back. The only bushwacker I like is their flares but even those are a PITA to put on. Also I notice you have the RE BB how much would u sell it to me for

It's real hard to beat the quality of Warn's flares, I've had two sets, 7" then 6", and both laughed off damage from big rocks grabbing at them.

I just installed a set of Bestop's flares on my TJ (my TJ's 5th set of flares! ) a few weeks ago and we'll see how they hold up. Looks-wise, they kind of give a bit of a CJ-look to my TJ which looks pretty nice.

Jerry, I'm sure it's been mentioned before but I hope you can gimme a quick answer:

Do the Warn flares come with mounting hardware at all, or do they expect you to re-use the existing hardware? Just helped a friend out fitting the Bushwacker pocket flares and the new nuts and bolts are much better than those stupid plastic things the old ones had... I need 7" flares for the coverage, but when I put them on I'd kinda like to have some decent nuts and bolts on them rather than re-use the plastic things...

I just installed the Bushwacker rocker guards, not for protection, just for looks because I already have some Bestop entry steps installed. Yes the rocker guards are cheap, but for $60 shipped they look pretty good. I only wanted them to help protect the paint from my kids/wife getting in and out of the Jeep. I'm afraid these things might just break in half on their own if they ever see a large rock coming anywhere near them!!
