Oil Filter Ya-Yas

I have read all the threads about which oil and filter is the best and I usually end up thinking - some people have way too much time to spend thinking about routine maintance.

However, today I was changing the oil and noticed I was out of filters so made a trip AutoZone. They were out of everything except the $9.99 Mobil1. When my heart started beating again, after I paid 10-bucks for an oil filter, I went home, finished the job an left for the day. Anyway, I talked to my cousin who is a tech at a plant that I won't name that makes filters for just about everyone you can think of and some you can't. I mentioned the Mobil1 and he went on and on about how much better that filter really is than anything else out there. From design to construction, he said it was hands down better.
He also mentioned a few other brands that have fell apart and got sucked up inside the engines, causing the company he works for to have to purchase some new motors.

Anyway, not sure if I will start paying $9.99 every oil change, but I was really amazed that the Mobil1 is that much better quality.

If you want to see a really cheaply made filter sometime, just tear into a Fram.

Next time you talk to your cousin, ask him about the Walmart Brand oil filters. You may be surprised at his answer.
