oil capacity 4.0

what is my oil capcity on my 4.0 ? i put in 5 and she look`s a little low.Thank`s Mark

manual says 5 but if its low add more.

6 quarts and it says it in the owner's manual.

oops my bad, hit the 5 instead of 6....but either way just add until the level says its fine

I just did an oil change (went from regular to synthetic), and 6 quarts put me just above the safe band on the dip stick.

Is that right after? If so it's normal for it to be a little over since the filter hasn't fully saturated yet.

That may explain why you only get 5 qts back OUT, but all my I-6s have read a little over full with 6qts even after filter fill. Not to worry.
