Oh, yea baby. Once you go Black......

Ok, I am no fan of chrome, to each his own, but if you have ever seen Black Chrome...... Now that's a different story. I am addicted to this look and have been wanting to try my hand at achieving this on a few pieces. Last Saturday was the day. I finally found what is called Black Transparent Powdercoat. You see through the black transparent layer and put this over a silver surface to get a black candy look. So I said why not try this powder over chrome to see if I can get close to Black Chrome. I was blown away by the results. They came out even better than expected.

I took a new set of KC Chrome 6" Daylighters and went to work.

This is what I started with.

Then I completely disassembled them and began putting the powder to it.

Next was easy bake time.

Now time to cool before serving.

It is served......

I am very pleased with the results. It is incredibly reflective. Now it is time to polish the stainless ones I have up front and have another go at it.

.

Thats pretty nice man. Me and my buddy repainted a set of daylighters black but we just used gloss black paint. Turned out good enough. Never though you could use an easy bake for Jeep stuff! haha

Superb!

How did you actually "put the powder to it"? Gun or what I have never looked into this before.

Black chrome is an oxymoron like jumbo shrimp or bad sex.

Thanks. And yes, I do not like chrome but as I said Black Chrome is a whole 'nother story.....

Black combined with the depth and reflective finish of chrome....

Yes, will do a full writeup this evening and give all details on products. Not hard at all. Just have to take your time and follow the process closely.
