NV3550 shifting issue

Hi,

My 2000 Sahara 4.0L, NV3550 doesnít shift from 2nd to 3rd smoothly, the shifter seems to catch on something and then shifts in to 3rd. All other upshifts and down shifts are smooth.

If I am rolling but at complete idle and clutch in it still does it, but if I am stopped it wont, totally stopped it slides in nice and easy, like it always did, in any gear. But when I am moving some, no matter how less or more I clutch it still does it.

I bought this Jeep (60K on the clock) in early May 2012 and it didnít do it.

Yesterday I replaced the transmission fluid with Redline MTL. Overall shifting is much smoother but it still hangs up on the 2nd to 3rd shift. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jim

That's normal for a NV3550 to develop over time. They're rough, loose (Bow-chicka-wow-wow) transmissions that always develop rattles and hard shifts when they age.

That said, give this a try and see if it does anything.
