03 Jeep Rubicon / 4.0 litre I6 / auto trans / 65k miles
I purchased this Jeep in June of 2011 from a fellow in Thornton, CO. He did all the modifications. It’s extremely clean for a vehicle of this age. I hunted for 18 months to find the right TJ doing lots of research along the way. I think I made a good choice. Hope you guys think so too.
This is my daily driver and I’ve been hitting the trails every chance I get. My objective is to explore every trail defined on Traildamage.com listed under the Colorado section. We’ll see what happens after that J

Story (optional):
I bought my TJ in the summer of 2010 and immediately was addicted. Some of my first mods were directed towards my local wheeling conditions (South Florida)… lots of mud and water. Starting small, a snorkel and a Warn winch along with bumpers to mount the winch and spare tire to were some of my first purchases. After a year of this Jeep obsession I stepped up my game and started some of the larger modifications, specifically buying only American made and especially JF vendor products. In September I moved to Indiana for college and I am blown away by the wheeling here. I went to Red Bird on a wet and slippery day and bounced off several trees in the slick muck. I was glad to be fully armored. With re-gearing, lockers (well, one’s a LSD), axles, steering and brakes I made it my goal to properly build a Jeep for 33’s. I want to be able to wheel hard and still drive home comfortably.
I wasn’t planning on entering TJOTM yet but I saw the need for November entrants. As y’all might imagine college seriously slows down Jeep builds. Next summer I’ll be reworking the steering with a new box, new pump and hydro assist. I’m also going to work on a new suspension – possibly a home brew triangulated 4 link with coilovers. Along with the suspension will come a tummy tuck, and then it’ll be ready for 35’s.

Just around 4100 lbs fully loaded with the hard top

I’ve included this picture because it’s something every Jeep builder knows… it’s the small things that often take the longest. Here I had to modify the rockers to work with the Metalcloaks. The front was trimmed off with a circular saw (yes, like you cut wood with) to the angles of the ‘cloaks and the fender mount, a hole saw, good measuring and lots of lubrication.

Sloppy morning at Red Bird SRA. Unfortunately I was too busy driving to snap many good pics… funny how that works.

Story:
Bought this TJ so I can keep up with my son when wheeling. Now he sold his last jeep and is trying to keep up with me. I love wheeling and this jeep has a lot more to do to make it to where I want it to be.
