not your average gear question...maybe

got percision 4.56s that have about 2000 miles or so on them..........well when i get to exactly 70 mph and above it starts to whine when you press the gas but then stops if you go anything under 70. Im a little worried since this is the 3rd set of gears in the back because the other two were destroyed along with the rear end * brand new 44 now*......does anyone else have this problem , or should this be something that i have to look into more

Who did your install, did they add drainage slots, I had to expand mine to a half inch on bith sides. What oil and diff cover are you using? Are you venting any oil from your breather tube, would drip oil near your gas tank by the filler neck?

The drainage slots are internal below the axle tube in the interior of the diff housing. I've heard good things about them, but if they didn't add them, they need pull the locker and grind in the slots, we went in a second time to enlarge the slots. Here's a link with a pic. I went with Rockcrusher diff covers, which have the filler hole like a high pinion, synthetic oil 75W-140 and added a little Lucas additive. This coupled with breaking the gears in a little worked for me. No whine and no oil spewing out the breather tube. Took 3 weeks to get everything worked out.

Added to help with lubrication, the stuff is like glue, oil kind of sticks to it, so everything stays lubricated. I had a faint whine going from 30-40, gone now. Not sure if was the synthetic or the Lucas? We went in a second time and enlarged the slots to a half inch on both sides.
