I'm glad you're steering clear of the Boggers.....

We have a club member that runs em. NO sidewall flex and he pops a bead just about everytime we go out.

Feb 10?? You must have more vacation time than me or a wife that doesn't fill up the weekends!! Good luck!

Hey, I remember you from the Windrock trip back in July of this year (I work with your uncle at Eaton).

Pretty sweet looking Jeep back then. Anxious to see the outcome of your newest build. I know it's going to look just as good when you're done. Good luck.

Finally got my axles unloaded this evening. I will start to tear them down and clean them up tomorrow. I hit all the bolts with a wire wheel, and then sprayed them down with PB blaster.

The 14 bolt will get disc brakes and shaved. I will see what gear ratio is in the 14 bolt, tomorrow. The d60 is currently 410 geared. I think I will set them up with 513s. I wonder how badly that 231 tc, is going to squeal???, until I can upgrade it?

Ok, I went tonight and picked up these.

A set of 16x10 Champion bead locks, used. They need a little tlc, but I think I got a pretty good deal on them at
$450.00 I would like to change the rings to something a little more bling. I will be ordering my tires tomorrow,
42x14x16 Irok bias. Then I will have to get down to business on rebuilding the axles and suspension. So far on the budget, I have spent $1200.00 on axles, $450.00 on wheels, and the tire are going to be @ $1600.00 I started with $3000.00, this was from the sale of my axles, wheels and tires and some other misc. stuff. So I am about 250 past where I started. There is still a very long way to go. This weekend I will get more into the axles and start making a list of things I have to get. I have had an offer to trade my 14bolt for a d70 with 410 gear and a Detroit locker. I am thinking very hard on this. That would eliminate having to do the shave on the 14 bolt and buying gears for now. I could run the 410s for a short while, so my bank account can recover. To just refurbish the d60 will get into some $$$, thats with out any real up grades. More later...............

Got some stuff done today, I broke the d60 down.

Everything looked good, except for the passenger side kingpin. Some how it had gotten moisture in it and had surface rust. I went over it with some emery cloth and saw that it was slightly pitted. So I have one that I have to change. I was really hoping not to have to mess with those. Oh well. The d 60 cleaned up well, and the diff was still full of dope. I will start to collect the parts to rebuild the d60 next week.

I got a little more done today. Man, the more I disassemble, the more this is going to cost. Things I need to get this week, all new bearings for the d60, 1 king pin and 2 king pin rebuild kits. 16 wheel studs, a set of Warn premium lock out hubs, steel for the truss and a new pinion seal. And I am sure there will be more. Thats just to get it back to a good mechanical state, with no major upgrades. Oh ya, 2 new u joints, 2 brake calipers, 2 new rotors, see what I mean. Also I am thinking of throwing a Aussie or lockrite locker in the front for the time being. Anyone have any 2cents on that????

So today I took a drive down in to north Ga. I traded the 14 bolt for this dana 70. It has 410 gear and a Detroit locker. The guy who had the d70 was running a 14 bolt with the same gear as the one I traded him, so we traded even.

This should work well for me and give more ground clearance.

Ordered some of these. They will be for the rear lower control arms, that I will build. I will move my lower arms up to use on the top. They are longer that the current uppers and they are also easier to adjust.

This is a pic of the 8.8, as I was pulling it. I haven't done the calculations yet, but I will try to leave the frame connections where they are and just lengthen the arms.
