hydrocarbon n. Any of numerous organic compounds, such as benzene and methane, that contain only carbon and hydrogen.

what made you use lockouts instead of drive flanges? i ordered some flanges today. everyone convinced me that lockouts breaking is common.

Yes, breaking is kinda common. My research told me that you need a weak link. Better a lock out than an axle that could take out a carrier. Lock outs are easily replaced. Axles and carriers are not. Just my 2cnts.

What is the difference in a broken lock out and just having one lockout, locked in? I dunno? I could see a E locker, maybe? The E locker for the d60 is supposedly weak. I think it will be ok. I know it will be ok for now. That Detroit, lock out thing, makes no sense. If it lets go, whats the difference in that and loosing complete traction on one side? If it were to lock totally down, then what is the difference in that and gaining full, complete traction on one side? What about a spool, would that suffice? I just have to do what I can afford. We are already pouring the milk back in the jug after we eat cereal. I will wait until I can get chromo axles, to do the drive flanges. Then I will do 35 spline outers. But the first step is, mechanically sound. 2nd step is looking good. Then as time goes by I will upgrade as I can. The jeep, the way it was, didn't get that way over night.
Remember when.

Ok, I haven't gotten much done lately. However I am off work all next week. I hope to have the jeep sitting on the axles on jack stands, by the end of next week. I cut out a template for the front truss. It will be similar to the one I had on my hp d30. I also painted the rear calipers, I needed a little bling. Here are a few pics.

There on the left, the truss will go all the way over to the track bar mount.

More later.........

do you still have the brackets you cut off your control arms that you used while radius arms. im going to use my teraflex arms instead of the rustys. and since you have the same arms, it would work perfect.

No, I used one of them for something?? And the other one I will probably use half of it for the top of the truss, for the third link. I am going to use it, instead of the normal upper control arm mounts. They are pretty simple to make. 3 plates. Sonny may be cutting his off. He is going 3 link.

ok.... i have the rustys y-link, but the teraflex arms of mine swamp them in beefyness. since im going full size, might as well use the overkill arms as well....did you decide to keep the factory gearing for a bit?

I got a few more things done this afternoon. I cut the truss out for the d60 and got it tacked together. I still need to do a few fine adjustments to it. I still have a few more pieces to cut out, I want to connect the truss to the short tube also. I will try to come up with something, if I can't, I will use some angle and tie it to the bottom of the spring plate. Also, I am sure you have all seen u joints before, but these things are huge, compared to d30s.

Picture above is an stock d30 outer shaft and the stock d60 shaft.
I will have all day tomorrow to work on the jeep.
More later.........
