Newly installed used 32rh already busted!

Today I took my jeep out for a spin at Reiter Pit and was having a blast. Going over rocks, driving up steep inclines, splashing around in puddles. Ya know, the good stuff.

Well, we decided to go up a trail that we skiped over and soon we added some light snow wheeling into the mix... as we were driving up this fairly simple road with minor amounts of slush, I heard a sound that was very similar to having the steering wheel cranked all the way over, but deffinatly not coming from any steering components.

So I pull over to see what the heck was up! I look under the jeep, and there smoke coming from near the oil pan. I then take notice to lots of wonderful red ATF on the ground under my jeep. I'm believe it leaked from near the bellhousing onto the exhaust pipe.

This transmission was installed in august and has less than 5k on it! I'm so confused as to how this happened, especially since I'm really careful about using the skinny pedal. I mean I have 3.07 gears and 30 inch tires for crying out loud!

I managed to drive the 80 miles home, but the trany refused to "lockup" at highway speeds, but aside from that it seemed alright in 3rd. First and Second gears are hit or miss (I had to manually downshift at lights), and now my engine temp goes above 210 when I stop at a light. I'm assuming its related.

So for now, my jeep will remain parked untill I can call the dealership on monday and see why a new trany like this would fail so quickly!

If anyone has some ideas as to what may have happened.. I'd really appreciate it!

Sounds like torque converter took a dump? Definitely take it back to the people that did the rebuild! Was a new torque converter installe on the rebuild?

Look for a crack or hole, those aluminum cases aren't that strong when hit by a rock or log.

So it wasn't a brand new trans like on your original post. That will change everything! Why do you post brand new trans already busted?

Here's the real kicker, almost no fluid is missing from the dipstick! What the heck!

I think it was just a little ATF burp though. The fluid dosn't look burnt, but it does smell like tires though...

Yeah man, but it's jeep dealership installed too. I've also already gone through a trany on this warranty! UHG.

The overflow is in the frt thats why you say all the fluid dump out there. Check the level with the engine running and trans in N....fill it up and see if it drives ok. If it does forget about it.....overheating the fluid isn't that hard to do.
