Newby needing help with Check engine light/check gauges/stalling
Hello
I'm a new jeep owner. (3 weeks) It is a 1998 TJ 4.0 5 speed with 65,000 miles. I'm having diff problems with it. 1rst week started and drove about 4 miles shut of about 30 min. when i restarted it would run fine till i would give it gas and let off then it would die. next day run fine. The next day I started it and moved about 20 ft shut off, about 1 hour later i tried to start it and nothing it was like the battery was dead, I shook key and dash lights flashed ejected CD and started, but check engine light was on,went to shop they cleared code and said it was Idle air control so I replaced it and it run fine for about 3 days then I started it next morning it ran real rough gas light was on fuel gauge showed "E" (it was about half full) volt meter was pegged out and check Gauge light was on then it all went to normal and stalled out on me it restarted after several seconds and has run fine since except for a slight miss. Any thoughts or comments would be much appreciated as my wife is on my butt telling me you bought a piece of junk. Thanks Danny

replace the battery if its MORE than a few years old. clean the battery terminals, clean all battery grounds.
