Newbie needing advice

I am planning on heading to Uwharrie tomorrow and although its not the first time ive been trail riding it will be the first time I will be riding some decent trails. I am still new to riding trails and am wondering if it will be worth it to disconnect my swaybar. I know it will benefit me obviously, but seeing as how i have never disconnected the links and my suspension is stock i am wondering if i should or just get quick discos and take em off next time. Ive got like an hour drive to uwharrrie and I dont really know if i should risk taking em off and not getting them back on for the ride home. What is my best bet?

You can easily temporarily disconnect your front (leave the rear connected) antiswaybar in just a few minutes, and it's just as easy to reconnect it before you drive home. Just use a torx adapter for your ratchet drive for the bolt head (T-50 perhaps? I forget the size now) and a wrench to disconnect the lower part of both anti-swaybar link from the axle. Then use a bungee cord or zip tie to secure the links up and out of the way, passing the cord or zip tie through the little opening where the upper suspension spring bucket support is welded in place, in front of the upper coil spring bucket. Even if you didn't get them reconnected for the drive home, you'd be fine so long as you drove it like a Jeep and not a sports car.

Disconnecting/reconnecting only takes about five minutes, I used to do the same thing and it worked very well until I finally installed quick disconnects for the front antiswaybar.

youll be very surprised at how the Jeep does with stock suspension and the front disconnected. take pics and have fun!

its either a T50 or T55 torx bit. i dont remember for sure though. if you dont have one your local parts store should let you test fit it before you buy it.

As Jerry said - T50 (or T55?) and a wrench and you'll be on your way! It's definitely worth it to remove the links for the trip - you'll be amazed at the difference...

it is a T-55 torx bit pick up one with a 1/2 drive adapter and you will be all set. If you on level ground they are prety easy to bolt back in. good luck and have fun

If it's not too late, like you left all ready, take 'em off at home, oil them up,
and reinstall for the ride there. Then you'll have no surprises (rusted on) when you get to the trail.
