New Steering Column, how to remove key lock cylinder without key

Hi all,

I bought a steering column to replace my old one and I didnt think about asking the previous owner to remove the key lock cylinder and I did not receive the original key either, so I cant do it myself. My question is, can I remove the key lock cylinder on the new steering column without the key? The only thing that I can think of is to grind down the locking tab with a dremel. While this would work I am looking for a little quicker option than sitting there for half an hour and grinding it down.

Thanks for all the help.

Paul

Try turning the key to accesery point and you should see a little hole ,inside the keyhole . Put a paperclip(not a cheap crapz one) or something stronger of similiar size into hole it should pop out ,ithe little hole may even be located in the off position.hope this helps..
