And if you get some Never-Dull or similar the top tank can be polished up really nice for a little bling under the hood.
My experience too, 5-10 cooler

I bought my single core Silla aluminum radiator from radiatorexpress.com for under $200 shipped!

roadking - how did you mate up the trans lines to your auto? My lines seem to terminate directly into the OE radiator..not a hose with clamp as the nipple on the provided connections. Thanks in advance.

Scanguage II will read temps accurately no problem. I've got one. Those TIG welds aren't the prettiest, but it looks like a good radiator. Let us know how it holds up.

I have had my silla all aluminum radiator in for about 2 months and it has been keeping the 4.0 about 5* cooler than the stock one. (I am running a 195* t-stat).

I got mine from http://www.fastradiator.com/ViewProduct.asp?ModelNumber=FAS-2102AA $135 out the door...then again I picked it up in person since they are only an hour from my house but they will ship it for $7 I think.

I can't remember if I just unbolted them from the OEM or used the new ones that came with the radiator? I think I cut the lines and used the new ones? Just keep the lines elevated so they don't drip all over the place.

Silla Install for Automatic Tranny

Thanks for all the input/write-up everyone....I bought a Silla Alum 1-Core Radiator and here's the scoop for my 97 TJ Automatic 4.0 Install
  1. Fastradiator.com = $136 shipped, awesome service 1 day to me
  2. Silla Radiator adaptor fittings for Auto Trans Lines not needed - remove and OE Trans lines connect direct (Nice)
  3. Replaced the Hoses, Serpentine Belt & Thermostat while you're at it.. (OE/Mopar Parts)
  4. Silla Radiator has metric threads for the fan shroud - I had to purchase some new bolts(then again..maybe my TJ had something that was not OE)
  5. 2 Gallons of 50/50 Antifreeze/Distilled Water and a Bottle of Redline Watter Wetter - 195 to 200ish F Temps
  6. Don't forget to change the Rad Cap
  7. Buy some extra "blind nuts" that are into the body of the Jeep - I had two disintegrate on me - they are the nuts that the Rad Bolts to the body

The hard lines from the Auto Trans will leak a very small amount of fluid - not much to replace/add back to the trans. The capacity of ATF in the Rad is very little as well - not much worries for amount that drains.

Best of luck - 2 days in the TJ and (fingers crossed) - continued success.

Just bought one of these, weather permitting going to swap it tomorrow. How much water and antifreeze is this going to take. And should I get a 18 pound cap like the one that's on it or something else?

heres a weird question for you guys that swapped in these radiators: are the mounting brackets on the sides welded on, or bolted on like a stock rad? also, is this the part number that everyone is using...FAS-2102-2AA? tia

edit: this thread was old. dangit.

Yes, the mounting brackets are on there already and it just bolts right up. It also has the receptacles for transmission cooler lines if you have an auto trans. Not sure about the part numbers, it was a while ago that I bought it.

i see that the brackets are on there already, thats not what i was asking. are those brackets bolted on or welded on?

heres why i ask: whoever converted my TJ made the rad brackets removable so that i can replace it with an OEM style rad for a LHD TJ. and yes i have tried to fit a RHD model rad in there. it wont work. i am looking for a rad that i can remove the mounting brackets and put my goofy ones on there to fit my TJ.

do you copy?
not trying to sound like a d!ck, but it is so frustrating to have to compensate for the p!ss poor quality of conversion that is my Jeep.

You could probably grind away the material of the bracket that is welded on - its' basically flat metal extensions to the main core. Sorry I don't have any pics to assist, but I think this radiator would be the same type of challenge you face with any of the others that are standard fit.

I just wen't out and looked, and it looks like they are bolted on. Two bolts at the top and two at the bottom for each side. I suppose you could always modify the existing brackets by drilling mew holes or cutting/grinding etc?
