New lockers and new Atlas adds a crescendo of new noises. (Solved)
 
Just had the following done. The jeep went from a quiet stock jeep with a 4" lift as the only mod to this. Now it sounds like a farm implement. I will eventually get used to the crescendo of new sounds. Can't wait for wheeling this weekend.


TJ Ford 8.8 axle 4" lift ($2495)
- Artec Truss
- 4.56 gears / master install kit

The only thing I would think would add noises is the Grizzly Locker unless the drive shafts were setup improperly. What do the noises sound like?

EDIT:

Actually I take that back, depending on your cross member, body lift, trans mount, and the way you have your atlas clocked, the Atlas could be tapping the skid or underside of your body.

Used. Original owner going to an Atlas II 4.3 with the 32 spline front output shaft.

Crescendo getting quieter. Probably due to breaking in. Grizzly locker makes a noise when I clutch and declutch. Not a big deal. Grizzly locker quiet turning corners so this noise would be a lot better with an auto transmission.

I don't have cable shifters for the atlas so I do pick up more transfer case noise in the cabin at freeway speeds or if I'm in the wrong gear at low speeds. This too is getting better primarily due to driving better at low speeds. I realized I had bad driving habits in the past with my stock setup because the chain drive 231 was more forgiving with noise feedback.

My pinion angle with my front axle and drive shaft requires adjusting (I have fixed upper and lower control arms in the front). I am getting adjustable control arms to help fix this and maybe even lock out front hubs to help freeway noise.

Otherwise it is really all working out great. Just a shock going from stock driveline to a capable driveline.

So far very happy with the transformation.

Pinion angle looks to be a little low... Could just be the pic though

That's the front axle. It is low.

I had a full Savvy 3" with a one inch BL and the Original UA and GTS along with a new front axle and all new suspension parts. It made all kind of noises. I had a muffler shop make some minor adjustments for 40 bucks to fix a known problem, but after that it settled in and now its back to no noises or funny sounds again. Of course, quiet like a luxury car on a country lane it's not.

It is getting much better. I only have marble sounds when decellerating above 45 mph as the last noise to fix. Again Advance Adapters thinks its my driveline angles.

Rear pinion angle does look low. Measure the pinion angle and measure the drive shaft angle. What's the difference?

Do the same on the front. What's the difference?

Got any physical contact between the drivetrain, tub and/or exhaust?

Rear Drive Shaft 23 degrees. Rear Pinion 14 degrees. Rear TC output 13 degrees.
