Hmmm, I am not sure how thick a football helmet is. The fenders are approx. 1/8" thick.
You could trim just the necessay sheetmetal to allow these fenders to install. As Jerry pointed out (thanks BTW) it would hinder it's flexibility, but if your type of wheeling does not include brushing up against things, then it should work just fine.

A pair of JK lights at RockAuto Auto Parts is only $36.10 total for the pair plus shipping. That's where I got mine.

They do look pretty clean. I actually like the flatter LED lights better, but the JK lights have the upper hand being plug and play.

These look great but I have to agree on the use of the stock flare, it just looks hacked up at that point. I drive my rig to the trails and tire coverage is one less thing I'd like to worry about, and if it wasn't for this, I'd be buying these. that's why I'm looking at the tube fenders from Genright and/or Poison spyder.

Man I love these. I wasnt even really into the flat fender look untill I saw these. I guess the prices of the steel flat fenders always turned me off, but these look great and are priced right, and I love the JK turn signals Jerry.
Im going to have to get these soon....well when the wife lets me spend some money I will. And Im definately going for the JK signal look too.
Good work www.modernclassicenterprises.com!

Thanks for your interest! They don't quite fit a YJ, but we are working on getting a YJ version (and CJ versions) out asap!
Also, thanks again for the heads up Jerry!
thanks,
Mike
