I don't understand when people say, pay INVOICE only. Is that the price set by the factory? Isn't that the same as MSRP?

And why would the dealer sell for INVOICE, how would they make money then?

thanks for anyone who can explain

Invoice means "wholesale cost". The reality is, dealers get rebates off the "wholesale cost". In other words, usually pay less than what the invoice indicates. The Invoice is the best place to start negoitating. Negoitate upwards, not downwards.

exactly what I did

then I build my vehilce on www.carprice.com then selected buy or something, that led me to www.autobytel.com which sent an email to the local participating Jeep dealers, the next day I got an email from the BEST car dealer I have ever talked to.... he got the EXACT TJ I wanted w/in $7 of the carsdirect price. Needless to say, I was there the next daying singing papers.

I ended up paying 500 more for it, becuase I waived the rebate and got the low APR instead, saved alot more in the long run
