New Hi-Lift jack....where do I put this thing?

Hey everyone,

I just found a (supposedly) 60" hi-lift Xtreme jack on craigslist. I went ahead and bought it because it was only $50! It is only 48" long, but came with the red mud foot, a carrying case and the plastic piece that stops the handle from clunking around! SUPER DEAL!

I'm wondering where I can mount this beast? I know there's the hood and I'm leaning towards that because it looks awesome, but the brackets are like $80! Wondering if anyone has found a simple method of just mounting it to the roll cage somewhere. It'd be on my 03 TJ sport and I use both soft and hard tops if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

I have a YJ and I've seen hood mounts for only like $20 on ebay. I'm sure there are cheap TJ ones too.

X2. The few times you'll use it isn't worth the hassle.

Meh, i have used one many times. And they were pretty useful at the time. The problem with them is people don't use them in the right way and end up hurting themselves.

I've watched several safety videos and intend to practice with it so I am familiar. It's hella better to spend the $50 and have a jack rather than the useless POS that's under my seat right now lol. I'll take a look on ebay for some hood mounts if they are only $30!

Your bottle jack is far from a useless.

Do people use them? Of course if they have them. People want to use their toys. In almost all cases are there better ways for a recovery or repair to happen? Absolutely. I won't say there is never a use for one, but it's rare IMO. Rare enough not to carry one.

I know the toyota crowd uses them because their IFS has zero flex so they easily pick the tire up off the ground.

Not the case with us, since it'll take forever for our tire to come off the ground thanks to the mad flex.

Get some U-bolts and mount it to your cages C-pillar. Less than $10
