I wish I did, but didn't think about it.

Looks good, steve!

1 question on the Genright: wasn't it basically the same amount of clearance as stock? Seems like I read that it's 1/4" higher.

From my experience, it was 1/4" higher than the stock skid under the bottom. However, the departure angles is reduced since the tank sits further back than stock. Every little bit helps with the longer wheelbase.

I will say that I loved the Safari tank when it was my DD and used it for longer wheeling trips. I just don't have the need for extra capacity anymore.

I put a nice brushed finish on mine, then gave it a couple coats of clear before installing. It looked fantastic....until the rear started leaking gear fluid from somewhere and ate the clear right off.

Bummer. The nice thing is it still won't rust and you can clean it up and shoot some more clear on it.

Do you get any pix of it with clear. I've been wanting to do it like that.

Thanks,

Gerald

So how long is the typical install? Looks like I'll have to do an evening after work install since my GTS is arriving Monday and I have a trip that Saturday.

It shouldn't be a problem to do it in one evening. Make sure you are very low on gas. It took me about two hours to get mine back in, but it was a relaxed process on a Saturday morning (after I installed the new pump to replace the one I broke while trying to remove a full tank).

Just be easy with the tank until the fuel lines are off of the pump!

My RHD TJ - Savvy equipped... And loving it!

I drive on the right side, what's wrong with you?

I did it by myself with a half tank of gas in a few hours.

Helps to have an asistant as it all is a little bulky, but generally agree that its not that big a task.

I'd also suggest running a little bead of grease around the edge of the tank before putting it in the skid. Tolerances are tight and helps to get it fully seated.

Yes, tolerances are tight. No grease needed. Take a file and ease the top inner edge a slight bit if it isn't done already. Sometimes the fab shop forgets and I don't get to inspect all of them.

When that's done, set the tank on top of the skid and ease it down into the skid by jumping up and down on alternate ends.

If you use grease, it will attract grit and may sand something you don't want sanded.

I hope one of those new products is a rear tire carrier... if so, I'll be on you like a fat kid on free cake to get one ordered!

P.S. I believe...
