This is a true story - years ago when I was working as a traineee mechanic, our firm did a very unscientific survey. We used to service a lot of fleet cars at the time and we oiled the door locks on 50% of the vehicles we serviced for fleet and carefully recorded which ones. A telephone survey of the drivers in the week following clearly showed the oiled doorlocks cars made a real impression on the drivers as being smoother and better to drive than before. A significant number reported more power than before as well. This compared with the unoiled section who were dismissive as to any gains or difference in their vehicles at all.
This is seriously true and its information I've used over and over ever since. When I need to borrow a car I always return it with oiled doorlocks. Even though I know that its all in the mind, I still oil my door locks and still feel the power, whatever I drive. Its cheaper than a camshaft change, why don't you try it?

I did the exact mopar cam. Not intentionally however.
I do not know how much they are, I pulled my motor and had a guy rebuild it (steve callaigh (SP?) after a piston blew apart in their. The Mopar cam was added without him telling me, it was a side project and took a few weeks and he forgot he put it in there (because he had it lying around and we knew each other from family friends) Well he gave it back to me, and I noticed a little bit more torque, nothing up high, not any more stable. But just a little bit more pep around 1700. this was nice when i bumped up to 32" swampers. I still dont feel the need to regear with stock gears because the cam did help taking off. Dont kid yourself though. its a 2.5 I dont know how much the cam is, let me know and ill tell you if it was worth it. I would assume a hundred or so. great mod if you can stick it in there yourself

Why does anyone think a TB spacer is going to do something on a FI engine? I'll never get it.

You will notice a small difference with those mods. A friend and I had nearly identical jeeps. We both had TJ's with 35's and 4.88's. He had nothing else done to his. I had a K&N filter, 4.0L TB, electric fan, and a cat back exhaust. Many times while running in the sand I was able to pull a higher gear on climbs then he was. When he drove mine he could also feel a noticeable difference. Was it huge? No. Did it help? Yes absolutely. The biggest difference was being able to get the motor to a higher RPM faster, I had bought the mopar stage 2 cam I think it was a .440, but when I found out how much it was to install it, I put it on ebay and made some money.....

tahst the cam I have the chance to buy
Thats the ONLY reason I was thinking of running a jet chip. If I install this cam, i might try to buy a used one....and see if it works with all the other engnie work. I know its shooting a dead horse, but most people that try them, dont have a lot of engine work. Hell, my buddy is making 200 HP from his Suzuki 1.6 liter samuri lol. Bored head, cam, intake all kinds of crap. The power is in this little motor, you just have to dig for it. If you can do that at a low cost, its worth it to me. |

If you have great hookups and the prices are way less than most can get, then it's worth it. But I'd rather not drop $1k into the engine when I need armor, etc, etc.

stage 2, but I wouldn't get a jet chip, they blow up with the slightest drop of water....They dont have much protection from the elements.
