Registered User | I don't think you'd gain anything worth the cost. A cam is really only going to change where the power comes on, not necessarily give you more power. Maybe it they made a cam to work with an air intake and exhaust you'd get some benefit. But you are talking piddly gains, not worth it imo. |

Registered User | Well a buddy got one...and he said combined with the 4.0 TB and exhaust, he noticed a NICE differance. More low end power, and some high end. SO I wanted to get some more info on them. I really want first hand experiance. |

Registered User | Ignore the 4.0L answers that think they have an edge being the 2nd slowest car on the freeway. Go to this web site dedicated to 4 cylinder Jeeps. There a lot of info on getting as much as 200 hp out of your 4. http://www.4bangerjp.com |

Registered User Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Richmond, Virginia USA Posts: 304 | Ok then, I'll change my tactic. Even with a 4.0L, I don't expect any performance from my Jeep. It's a Jeep, unless it's a WK SRT8, it wasn't made for speed/performance. My TJ was designed to go anywhere, just not at high speed. __________________ 2001 TJ Sport: 4.0L, NV3550, D30/D44, 35x12.50x15 Maxxis Trepadors on DC-1s, 4.56 gears, Cromoly shafts & ARBs F/R, Full Traction 3" Lift, 1.25" JKS BL, Jeeperman Tire-Carrier Rear Bumper, Jeeperman Receiver/Winch Front Bumper, B&M Shifter, Kilby Gastank Skid, TBT Steering Skid, Nth° OPS, TBT Rock Steps, SkidRow Radiator skid,, IPF H4 (Fatboys), KC 100W Driving SlimLites. |

Registered User Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Richmond, Virginia USA Posts: 304 | If you're eventually going to have a REAL motor, why spend any more money on the one you've got? That'd be like me building up my D30 when I'm planning to put in Rockwells. __________________ 2001 TJ Sport: 4.0L, NV3550, D30/D44, 35x12.50x15 Maxxis Trepadors on DC-1s, 4.56 gears, Cromoly shafts & ARBs F/R, Full Traction 3" Lift, 1.25" JKS BL, Jeeperman Tire-Carrier Rear Bumper, Jeeperman Receiver/Winch Front Bumper, B&M Shifter, Kilby Gastank Skid, TBT Steering Skid, Nth° OPS, TBT Rock Steps, SkidRow Radiator skid,, IPF H4 (Fatboys), KC 100W Driving SlimLites. |

Web Wheeler Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Puget Sound, WA Posts: 1,208 | On a side note between you two arguing like teenage girls, JP Mag did a writeup a few months back on power mods for Jeep motors. They were very pleased w/ the cam swap when they threw it on the dyno for hard numbers (on a 4.0 and 2.5). So if that's the path you want to go, I would bet you see fairly decent gains. As long as you're aware that you're doing it with a 2.5 and not anticipating anything huge. Also, making sure you get the right aftermarket cam would be vital to not just waste money and time for no change. __________________ **MIA** '05 TJ, MY Edition Last seen in the Seattle area, WA plate 879-URZ.. **MIA** |

I bet your brain makes it noticable even if its not, so spend the money and know that you did something that you wanted to do with it. Other than the imaginary gain you feel, no one can honestly say you will gain nothing. Like whats been stated, there have been tests done and the numbers dont lie. I just think you might be expecting more than what your going to get. If i were you, I would call up a company like Hesco and talk to someone that knows for sure, they sell them, they install them, they would know. Hope that helps. __________________ 2006 Orange Unlimited. 3" Teraflex springs, Rubicon Express Spacers, ProComp Front adjustable trackbar, DT-3000's, and 33X10.50 BFG's on Black Steelies. |
