Need to undercoat. What to use
When I bought my 06 I was living up in northern B.C. The previous owner failed to have the truck undercoated when he bought it. Now that I have moved south in to Vancouver I need to get this done before they start salting the roads for winter.
Any recommendations on what to use and what to watch for here?

duplicolor rubberized undercoating it good stuff, I used it on my last jeep, and it looked good and the rubberized coating made it hold and seal good, and its about $4 a can, looks like a spray paint can, just wear old clothes and gloves, it is rubber aerosol, will take about 5 cans to do a good coating.

The Grizzly Grip has been on since May. It was outside, no top in the Mojave Desert (doesn't get hotter/dryer) for a few months and now we're in Guam (doesn't get hotter/humidy). I am MASSIVELY pleased with Grizzly Grip ...... performance, price, application and customer service.

Yearly treatments of Krown with a good topping of Fluid Film for the underside. I put the Fluid Film on with a schutz gun... it's practically a grease. Anyone from atlantic Canada can tell you it works.

Fluid Film...yup, good stuff, have used it in the past with good results.
Prolab Tecnolub has a similar product as well (Annual Rustproof treatment #2). Both are designed to "penetrates cracks, stop existing oxidation and leave a protective rustproofing film". ![]()

The owner of the major Offroad Outfitter and Line-X dealer up here in Maine refuses to undercoat vehicles. I myself was not inquiring about having my vehicle undercoated but overheard a conversation the owner having a conversation with a customer one day that wanted it done. He told the customer he was able to do it but would not do it because he said in the long run it can cause a lot more problems then solve. He recommended the customer did not undercoat his vehicle, but if he wanted it done gave him the names of a couple other shops in teh area that would do it. The owner said he just was not comfortable in undercoating vehicles.
I never thought about it much after that day, but this post rejogged my memory a bit. Any idea why he would recommend NOT getting the vehicle undercoated? I live in Maine, we have lots of snow and salted roads up here... Cheers, Josh

I'm just across the border from you in St. Andrews...same nasty metal eating salt/sand mixture on our winter roads. Was the outfitter referring to undercoating a vehicle using Line-x or one of the annual rustproofing type treatments? On a vehicle which has already started to rust, that would make sense. Can't think of any drawbacks to using a fluid film type treatment...other than everything being greasy/oily under the Yeep...anybody? ![]()
