Need spring compressors or not?

Does anybody know if it is necessary or preferrable to use spring compressors doing a rear axle swap in the driveway?

I won't say that it won't help, but it is not a necessity. You can do it without them, but will be a little harder to install them.

As long as you have 6 ton jack stands you won't need the compressor. The 3 tons won't get the chassis up high enough for you to rotate the axle down so the springs drop out.

Definitely preferable to use the spring compressors, most places will let you rent them. Make sure you get the ones that go on the outside of the springs

for the rear, theres no reason for a compressor, un bolt the shocks and the sway bar links, the springs, even 4.5"ers will practically fall out,

the front can be difficult with stock lower arms cuz they bind on the shock mounts when drooped...

I was workin alone when I did my lift, personally prefer using compressors. Free rent basically from the auto parts store.

I have never needed or had to use one. I have worked on 2" to 6" springs.
