If you think EVERYONE is an ******* but you're not....

Maybe it's time to consider it might just be the opposite?

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt here. In which case my response to you is to follow the good advice I and some others gave already on how to improve mpg. Maybe consider the error in your post and the things mentioned and suddenly the responses you got aren't so crazy or unreasonable. Have to look at things a bit more objectively perhaps.

In any case, if it's your Jeep, step up tell him you won't be selling it. OR as said, work a few extra hours to cover the gas increase vs another more fuel efficient car.

Suggestion number 1: start a new thread with the PROPER info and you will be surprised that people will actually attempt to help you.

Suggestion number 2: SEARCH, there are plenty of threads on bad gas milage and ways to try to improve it.

Suggestion number 3: Do a complete tune up, caps, wires, plugs etc...maybe change fuel filter, air filter etc. Are your tires inflated to proper psi? Do you mash the gas a lot (not saying you do just something to think about). Try running some injector/gas stabilizer like seafoam through the jeep. Theres stuff I am missing but this is a start.

Compute the actual mileage. Set the mileage to ZERO, fill the tank. Drive it and divide the mileage travled by the amount of fuel that it takes to refill it. That will give us a better idea if you actualy have an issue or we need to help you solve an issue.

Explain your driving style.

Is it an auto or manual?

When was the last tune up

How fast do you drive on a 65 MPH highway?

What octane fule do you run? 87 I hope!

BC

WHAT PART of my post didnt try to help you???????

have you calculated your actual mileage?

When your gauge indicates half, it is not really half.

Its a 19 gallon tank and most of the time the light comes on at 4.5 ish gallons left. At what RPM are you shifting? Are you throwing and codes?

Figure 16-17mpg avg for a stock manual TJ is about average.

Don't take this wrong, okay?

The part I noticed in this post was "when I have the money for it."

This is just a stab in the dark, but is it possible your Dad is frustrated with you not having the money for it on a regular basis? And figures if he's got to pay for it anyway, then he ought to at least save some money by having you drive a more economical vehicle?

I'd say 190 miles on half a tank is great, i don't get that on a full tank. let us know i want a winch.

From one BAMA fan to another (graduated from UA in 07): If you're going to get on here and be a d!ck to everyone even though you're the one that started the thread by giving bad information, please leave anything related to Tuscaloosa or BAMA (the Roll Tide comment) out of posts. you're embarrassing the rest of us. maybe you should have gone to Auburn instead...
