My writeup and review of LJLunatic's sliders
As some of you may know - a member here by the name of ljlunatic is taking stock rubi rocker guards and beefing them up nicely. He welds on a piece of square stock (I think - cant see it in the finished product) - then makes a "step and slider" out of diamond plate. The then rivets it top and bottom every few inches, which effectively makes a nice step and double thick diamond plate on the bottom along the edge of the tub. After installing them (using all the factory mounting locations - no drilling!) I was able to stand on them myself - with no flex or movement from the step itself - or the tub - and I am 350lbs.... I am sure a 1/4" plate steel rocker for hundreds of dollars may help the guys out on the rubicon or moab, sideways sitting on rocks - but I am very confident in these for the 4-6 trail jeep jamborees we do - plus as my DD - I am not worried in the least about car doors in parking lots either. Take a look at the pics. I have no interest here other then a very satisfied customer spending a few hundred dollars on a great product, well built and welded, made by a fellow jeeper, and didnt require any drilling or cutting into my jeep to install. Lots of pics below. i tried to take closeups to show the quality of the build and welding....
